KORA NATIONAL PARK
Kora National Park, Located 280 km from Nairobi, was gazetted in 1973 as a reserve and gazetted as a park in 1990.It lies on 1700km2 and is bounded by the Tana River. It is generally hot and dry.
Its landscape has vegetation of dense woodland and scrub interspersed with isolated rocky outcrops, called Inselberts. The park has several seasonal rivers also. The land surface slopes gently from an altitude of 490m in the south-west and about 270m in the north-east.
Games found in the park include; elephants, Lesser Kudus, wild dogs, striped and spotted hyenas, leopards and cheetahs. There are also about 500 species of insect, 21 species of fish, 33 mollusks and 40 reptiles in the park.
Other activities found in the park are; bird watching, hiking, camel safaris, camping, river rafting, boating and fishing and rock climbing.
