Kenya - Visa and Passports

Before traveling to Kenya, your passport should be valid. Visas are required by all visitors to Kenya except some common wealth citizens who are exempted.

Visas are valid for three months from the time of Entry. These can be obtained on arrival. Visa fee for a single Entry is US $ 50, and US $ 100 for a multiple entry visa. Tourist Visas can be extended for further three months period(US $ 20) but seven-day transit visas cannot.

To travel to countries like Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia, (Visas for Onward travel) three months visas can be obtained from Nairobi at a cost of US $ 50 for most nationalities.

There are also embassies where you can obtain visas, and renewal can be done at the immigration office in Nairobi.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

It is advisable to always ensure you have a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for repatriation to your home country.

In case of any problem that needs medical insurance, most of the Kenyan medical providers may not follow your life insurance company instructions. To be compensated you must be treated by licensed medical personnel and provide your insurance company with proper documentation and receipts. Most importantly, be sure that the policy covers ambulances and emergency flight Home.
